By now you already know more than 60% of Other Adsense Marketers but with what I’m about to show you, you will really put yourself ahead of the game.

This next section is so easy, yet 90% of Adsense marketers fail to do it. Before we start it’s worth noting that it will take some time before you start to see results. So let’s jump forward a few weeks: I have followed the steps above and now have my website live and running. I am now seeing some traffic to my web-pages and it’s time to ramp things up.

Keyword research tools are great but nothing, I repeat NOTHING is as valuable as your own statistics. If your web-host uses Cpanel then you can use awestats for this section. If not then register with Google Analytics.

What you are looking for in your results is the keywords that visitors are typing into search engines in order to reach your website. But what can you do with this information? You will notice 2 things in your keyword stat’s here:

1: Sometimes users are typing the exact keyword you are targeting in order to reach your page. In this instance you can do 2 things to maximise your ROI (Return On Investment). First of all You now know that Google and other search engines associate your web-page with that keyword. So now is the time to promote that page more. Just stick to the rules above. Keep getting back-links with that target keyword along with some variations. Secondly, (BIG tip here) put that keyword into a notepad or spreadsheet file. You have already proved it’s easy to rank for and use can use it to get a head-start for your next website.

2: What you will also notice is that visitors are reaching your website via other keywords that you hadn’t specifically targeted. This is great, and again you can do 2 things with this information. First of all make sure you use these keywords as well as your target phrases when you’re promoting your site and getting back-links. This is how you snowball your traffic. Secondly, If these keywords aren’t too repetitive then create extra web-pages on your site that target these specific keywords. If they are too similar to create a new page for, then add them to your text file or spreadsheet and use them on your next site. This is known as creating “spin-offs”. You are simply leveraging your results and increasing the chances of your next site being successful because you already know you can get traffic with these keywords. DO NOT ignore these steps. They are what will transform a mediocre site into a true money spinner and that will increase it’s value when you come to sell it.

You can also liven things up here by promoting the affiliate products you researched earlier. Find the most relevant products you can (not the ones with the highest earnings) and try placing them above your ads, below your ads, and instead of your ads. Try each one in turn until you see which provides you with the biggest ROI. Testing is the only way to achieve this as it will vary depending upon your niche and many other factors. Using this exact method I increased my revenue by almost 400%!

As I have already mentioned, content is extremely important. The easiest way to create a good quality site that has user value is with the use of informative articles. Remember I said don’t buy ready made Adsense websites? Well now I will add to this and say don’t buy PLR (Private Label Rights) articles. If you have downloaded these websites or PLR content then you can bet a hundred other people have also.

Google AdSense

This is NOT good for the following reasons.

You want unique content for your site. Google does not favor duplicate content and why should they? If you were searching on Google for any topic you wouldn’t want to see the results dominated by duplicate content. You would want a variety of information.

Although you can rank with duplicate content why give yourself that extra competition? With unique content you are already ahead of many other Adsense marketers.

Many people advise that you re-write your PLR articles to make them unique. This is also not a good idea (not for website content anyway). Why? First of all a good article re-write will take almost as long as creating a new one. Secondly, you will be trying to squeeze your keyword(s) into an existing article. This will never provide you with the same quality article as unique content.

The thing is, unique content is so easy to achieve there really is no need to use PLR. You can write the content yourself or simply pay somebody else to do it (outsource). (I would expect to pay around $6-$8 for a good quality unique article).
You can go to sites like Elance and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Some points to note when writing or outsourcing your content. Make your title Compelling and where possible, include your keywords first.

Example: If my target keyword is “antivirus protection”, my title could be something like
“Antivirus Protection – Top 5 User Reviews For 2009”

Try and use you main keyword once in the first and last paragraph of your article. Also sprinkle it around the rest of your article but only if it is natural. Don’t try and force your keyword in.

Also remember to use variations of your keyword. Google are smart and they will know if you’re keyword stuffing”. So if your target keyword is “download free antivirus protection” try and mix things up a bit.

Use the words separately around your pages and also use variations. This is easy to do if your article is natural as they should appear anyway. I won’t go further into this as then we have to start looking at LSI (Latent Schematic Indexing) and in my opinion it’s not something you really need to worry about right now.

One of the first things webmasters want to know is how much money they will make when they sign up for Google’s AdSense program. Some webmasters think that they will make enough money to quit their day job while others wonder if they will make enough money to cover the expenses of operating their website.

Google has gone to great lengths to keep the amount of money the advertisers pay each time a link to their website is clicked. Nor does Google want anyone to know how much the banners that display across the top of so many web pages are worth to Google, the webmaster, or the advertiser.

Before Google accepted you into the AdSense program they insisted that you read through the terms and conditions. One of the terms that you agreed to is that you would not disclose how much money you make from the AdSense program, at least not to anyone that doesn’t need to know (government official’s are one exception).

Just because no one is suppose to discuss how much money they are making from the AdSense program, doesn’t mean that you don’t hear rumors. Some webmasters claim that they routinely make $1000 a month just from AdSense. Other webmasters are not as lucky and consider themselves fortunate if they receive any check at all from Google.

If you are considering signing up for the AdSense program you shouldn’t count on making any money at all. By having no expectations you won’t be disappointed when the first checks you receive are small, if you get a large check consider it a bonus. The last thing you should do is count on AdSense to cover all of your operating expenses.

Instead of daydreaming about how large the your first Google AdSense check will be, you should focus on improvements that you can make to your website that will help increase the amount of revenue your AdSense program generates,

The key to a successful AdSense program is web traffic. The more traffic your website gets the more people that could click on the AdSense link. What this means to you is that you should make sure that your website has the highest possible page ranking. Make sure that your website is rich in valid content and search engine friendly.

The last thing that you should do is spend a great deal of time clicking on the AdSense links that appear on your website in the hopes that it will increase the amount of money that you make. Doing this is something called click fraud. If Google suspects that you are committing link fraud they will cancel your AdSense account and might even file a lawsuit against you.

For my Adsense websites I always target long-tail keywords and the website I’m telling you about is no exception. Long tail keywords are made up of three or more words that are more specific than a common 1 or 2 word phrase.

Example:
Short-tail keyword: Coffee Beans
Long-tail keyword: buy Arabica coffee beans
It’s the long-tail keywords that you’ll be targeting for 2 reasons.

1. They are easier to rank for in the search engines, so you will find it much easier to get traffic to your site.

2. People who search long-tail keywords are more likely in general to click on your ads, (there are exceptions but don’t worry about this yet). The percentage of visitors that click on your ad’s is known as CTR% (Click Through Rate).

Think about this. If you’re surfing the web and you type into Google “Coffee Beans”, you may be looking to buy coffee beans but the chances are you don’t really know what you want yet. You are just researching the possibilities.

But if you type in “buy Arabica coffee beans” then it is fairly obvious you want those beans. You’re not messing about, you’re looking for the best place to buy them.

Now, if you were creating a web-page that targeted this niche, which of the phrases above would be easier to rank for? Yep, the long tail phrase. This can be demonstrated with simple numbers.

The term “coffee beans” in Google generates 15.7 million results. Yet the term “buy Arabica coffee beans” only generates 131 thousand results. That’s a lot less competition.

NOW…

This is not a hard and fast rule but there are some good ways of estimating how easy it will be to rank for your target keywords.

Try to target keywords that have lesss than 50,000 competing pages (in quotes) in Google. Also, check out the top 5 results in Google. Make sure they have a low Pagerank – Prefereably not more than PR3 and hopefully at least 1 or 2 results will have a PR1 or less.

It’s also a good idea to see how many incoming links each of these sites have. This will be a good indicator of how much work you need to do in order to outrank them. Google do not report backlinks well so when analysing your competitions back-links go by Yahoo counts. You can MarketLeap for this. So with this knowledge in hand I started my keyword research for my $10k website. This is where most Adsense marketers stumble. They look for long-tail phrases that are easy to rank for but they don’t think about whether the visitor is likely to click on the ads. I knew I wanted to find long-tail keywords that were not only easy to rank for in Google, but would give me a high CTR%.

But if you’re smart this is where you really can clean up. Being smart with your keyword research means the difference between success and failure. Let’s throw a couple of extra factors into the mix.

When choosing the keywords for my sites I look at long-tail and CTR%. I also look at CPC% (Cost Per Click). By targeting long-tail keywords that ALSO have a high CPC% AND a high CTR% I increase my chances of success yet again.

I would rather target a keyword that only received 20 hits per day and had all of the above in it’s favor, than a keyword that received 200 hits per day and didn’t have a high CPC% and CTR%.

So how can you find all this information? Well there are a number of tools out there and Wordtracker tends to be the favourite. Personally I favor Nichebot and I’ll tell you why. Wordtracker gives search counts and competition data but it doesn’t give you CPC%. Nichebot not only gives average CPC% but a whole suite of other tools that will help you choose the right keywords from the start. On top of this it you can get Wordtracker results through it anyway.

Keyword Research

There are dozens of other tools out there that vary in price from free to hundreds of dollars. Some are brilliant, some are worthless – but you’ll have do do your own research on these.

Other research that is worth spending 20-30 minutes on is “multiple revenue streams”. This is how I added around $2000 to the value of my website. Yes, Adsense is a great source of revenue but it’s not the only income stream available. When researching your topic look on places like Amazon, Clickbank, Commission Junction etc. and see what other companies are offering affiliate commissions. In some cases (especially on Clickbank) you can earn up to 75% commission for each sale you refer. Make a note of all these for later.

Now there’s just one more thing to think about when choosing your keywords and then this section is done. This is where you choose your niche. In my experience (and the website I’m telling you about is no exception) you want to find around 8-15 good long-tail keywords that are based around the same niche. So, for example – My website targeted the “PC Anti-Virus” niche.

Rather than choosing (and these are examples only) a set of niche keywords like this…
anti virus downloads
free anti virus
download anti virus free
free anti virus downloads

I would choose a set of niche keywords like this…
anti virus downloads
email spam blockers
pop-up blockers
anti spyware reviews
registry cleaners

You see how they are not repetitive and they focus on the niche as a whole. Not only does this mean more value to the visitor but it means that once I have some statistics to look at – I can expand on these keywords, create new pages and multiply my revenue very easily.

One of the reasons that Google’s AdSense program is becoming so important to the internet is because it is set up in such a way that advertisers can quickly spread the news about a new product, or important changes that have been made to an existing product.

Google AdSense

In addition to allowing advertisers to move quickly, Google has also set up their AdSense program in such a way that once a webmaster has decided to subscribe to it, they can do so with a minimum of fuss. It will only take you a few minutes to get AdSense up and running on your website.

Log On

When you make the decision to use AdSense to generate a little extra income the first thing you should do is visit this website, . If you have don’t already have an account you will have to join. If you do have an AdSense account you should log on. When you are signing up make sure that you read through all of Google’s terms and conditions. After reading the terms, make sure that you click on the little box stating that you understand and agree to comply to them.

Report Page

After you have agreed to all the terms and conditions you will be shown a report page. You need to spend a great deal of time familiarizing yourself with this page. This is where you will go to get a report of how your AdSense program is doing. You will need to use this page if/or when you decide to tweak your AdSense program. The information that you find on this page will help you know how to tweak your website in order to maximize the amount of money you earn from the AdSense program.

Setup Section Link

While you are looking at your AdSense report page, you will notice a setup section link at the very top of the page. You will need to use this link so that you can create the code that you will need so that you post an AdSense banner on your web page. These banners are usually the most profitable type of AdSense advertisements.

My Account Link

The other link that you are going to want to acquaint yourself with is the one called my account. You will need to use this link so that you provide the details that Google needs such as your tax information. This is also the place that you will go when you need payment information.

There is no such thing as an incorruptible system and Google is learning that AdSense is no exception. The program, which is an excellent way for webmasters to make a little extra money, is falling victim to something that is commonly called click fraud.

Google Adsense

How AdSense Works?

When Google first developed AdSense, everyone thought that they were nuts. Google had the last laugh by turning AdSense into a program that works for everyone. In exchange for allowing Google to place a link on their website, the webmasters make a small amount of money every time someone clicks on the link. The advertiser who pays the webmaster each time a link to their website is clicked are happy because they are attracting customers without having to spend a fortune on an advertising campaign. The surfer’s like AdSense because they are finding websites that they never would have discovered without the links.

What is Click Fraud?

One of the reasons that advertisers are happy to pay the webmasters every time their advertisement is clicked is because they assume that the person who is doing the clicking is genuinely interested in whatever is being advertised. Recently though the advertisers have noticed that they are paying large amounts of money to one particular webmaster. When they contact Google and Google investigates they find that someone one the website is simply clicking the links. Since it was normally the webmaster who was committing the click fraud, Google handled it the best way they could, they disabled the webmasters account.

The real problems started when competing webmasters realized that they could benefit from Google’s policy of canceling an account when click fraud was being committed. Since many webmasters rely on the income they generate from the AdSense program, when their account is disabled they are no longer able to maintain their website. That meant that all the competing webmaster had to do was go to their competitors website and start clicking on the links. After awhile Google stepped in and the website was no longer able to function.

The problem Google is running into is that it is very hard to determine who is committing the click fraud. They can tell what website is involved but they have a much harder time determining who is doing the actual clicking. There are people in third world countries who are actually paid to hit links all day. There are automated programs called HitBots that are extremely hard to detect. Some programs have been set up so that several people can commit click fraud on a website while making it look like all the clicks came from one spot.

The Solution

Although there is room for a great deal of improvement, Google is doing everything it can think of to discourage click fraud. The most minor repercussion is the closing of an AdSense account but if the fraud is severe enough Google will file a lawsuit. Until they come up with a better solution many advertisers are staying away from Google.

Google provides advertisers who are interested in using Google’s AdSense program to promote their product with two options. The advertiser can chose to have their advertisements posted on individual websites, or they can opt to have their advertisements on the search results pages. Although there are several advertisers who still exclusively post on individual websites and even more that post on both places, more and more advertisers are starting to post exclusively on the search results pages.

Google Adsene

More Potential Customers

There is a really good reason why so many advertisers now prefer the search results page over individual websites. The most obvious reason is that it provides them with an opportunity to reach a much larger group of people. When you post on a website you are only able to attract the people that are actually coming to the website. When you advertise on the search results page you are reaching not just the people looking for that website, but also ones that are looking for a different website.

Click Fraud

The second reason so many advertisers chose to advertiser on the search results page is because they are becoming increasingly worried about something called click fraud. Click fraud is a term that is used to refer to the clicking of a link for no other reason than to either make more money from AdSense. Some webmasters have gone so far as to hire people to sit around all day clicking advertiser links. The true victims of click fraud are the advertisers who have to pay each time their advertisement is clicked.

Bad Matches

Other advertisers have chosen to just place their advertisements on the search results page because they have no way of knowing why someone is visiting a particular website. Although Google tries to match a particular advertisement to a specific type of content, things don’t always work the way they should and some advertisers have found their ads in places that the link would never get clicked. Some webmasters have complained that the ads that Google has placed on their websites have offended the visitors to the website

A Change in Ideas

When AdSense was first created, the idea was to use web content to match an advertiser to a website. It made sense to place an link to a website that sold discount bird seed on a website that helped people identify wild birds. What many advertisers have found is that this actually limits the amount of customers they can appeal to. In order to reach a wider range of customers they also had to have links placed on websites that sold bird cages, taught people how to care for birds, and people that were interested in bird watching. By placing an link to their website on the search results page they could reach all those people an have fewer links.

Why Adsense?

Since it’s conception, Google Adsense has been an attractive income opportunity. This is largely due to the fact that anyone with a website can easily earn revenue by placing targeted advertisements with very little effort. This revenue is a completely passive income stream meaning that once set up, you can simply watch your income grow. Imagine waking up in the morning to find out how much money you’ve earned while you were asleep!

In the early days of Adsense it was almost too easy. The system was open to abuse and clever marketers were able to rack up thousands of dollars everyday with worthless websites. Google hated this and took BIG steps to ensure that the quality of content on a website was reflected in the earnings of the web-master, in short – they would not rank poor quality sites. In order to be successful with Adsense you have to provide high quality content to your visitors. Let me repeat that. “In order to be successful with Adsense you have to provide high quality content to your visitors”

Google Adsense

It doesn’t have to be ground-breaking but it has to read well and be informative. DO NOT be tempted with cheap (or sometimes even free) ready-made Adsense websites. Yes they sound attractive but I can promise you that they’re a waste of time. A savvy marketer can make them work but in reality, you will be making hard work of what should be an easy task. You will see why later in this article.

What you need to understand is that Good Adsense websites go hand-in-hand with SEO (Search Engine Optimization). You can’t master one without the other.

How Does Adsense Work?

It’s very simple. You open a free Google Adsense account. From there you choose an ad layout and will be given a small piece of code to copy and paste on your web-pages. Google will read the content of your page and search it’s database for relevant advertisements. Where-ever you placed code on your web-page is where your ads will appear. Now, every time a visitor clicks on an ad’ from your page, they are re-directed to the advertisers website, and you are paid for directing that visitor. The amount you’re paid is known as CPC (Cost Per Click).

The object of an Adsense marketer is to get the highest CPC possible with the minimal amount of effort. Again, this comes down to providing quality content to your visitor, but that’s not all. Let’s throw another element in here. Keyword Research…

Keyword Research will become the corner-stone of your empire. This is what separates those who succeed and those who do not. This is for 2 reasons.

You need to learn how to target keywords that are easy to rank for in the search engines.

You also need to target keywords that are likely to generate a high CPC.

So, now you know what Adsense is all about, let’s get down to it.

Let’s say you create a website that earns just $5 per day, (this is achievable I promise you). Just 1 months earning would generate $150 (working on a 30 day month average).

Now I said you can earn 8-12 x monthly revenue so let’s take the middle road and work on 10x monthly revenue for this example. This means that your measly $5 per day website is now worth $1500.

Sounds great right? And very achievable. But what if you could rinse and repeat this process so you created dozens or even hundreds of these little sites that were all earning you money while you were asleep? You can do this very easily by leveraging your results.

This is why Adsense is so attractive. This is why competition is fiercer than it’s ever been. This is why you need to know how to ignore the competition and let them fight each other while you slide in and take the easy pickings. I don’t want to sound like a hot-shot guru-type here but that really is how to make this work. If you hadn’t guessed, I’m talking long-tail keywords – And this is where it all begins.
