SEO On-Page Optimization Explained
O.K, so by this stage I had completed my research (for now), I had my chosen keywords, and I had my articles written. So now I just needed to put my site up. Here is my preference for small websites like this. Keep your site pages on one level.
Have one simple navigation bar on the RIGHT-HAND SIDE of your web-pages that links to all other pages with the exception of perhaps your privacy policy, disclaimer, sitemap, FAQ etc. These should be at the footer of your pages with the copyright.
Your Adsense Ad’s should appear ABOVE THE FOLD of each web-page. By this I mean that the visitor doesn’t have to scroll down to see your ad. You want your ads to be the first thing that hits them when they reach your site.
Next I had to look at On-Page Optimization. We have already looked at this in some detail in the “content” section even if you hadn’t realized it. On-Page Optimization simply means to make your web-page attractive to search engine spiders.
Assuming your content is already optimized there are just a few other things to look for. Meta tags is being the first one.
Title Tags : This is the title of your web-page, different to your article title
Keyword Tags : Include relevant keywords but only if they appear in your article
Descriptive Tags : Many people don’t bother with this as it won’t affect your search engine ranking but I consider it important. This is the text that will appear in the search results. This is how you convince people to visit your site.
Header Tags : Use Headers and Sub-headers in your articles. H1, would be the main Title of your Article. H2 would be a sub-heading and similar with H3, and H4.
